At my son’s 4 year check up the doctor gave us a little
lecture pep talk on cutting back on the sugar for my little man. She basically scared the shit out of me, see the picture below and imagine the doctor basically telling me that this will be my son. Uh, thanks doc!
Wyatt has a giant sweet tooth, and can turn into a huge troll when he wants candy. I’ve honestly never seen a kid love sweets as much as he does. He will wake up in the middle of the night asking for a piece of candy.
Needless to say we have slowly started eliminating a lot of the everyday sugary foods like granola bars and gummies. Oh, and I got rid of a little candy.
The timing worked out well because I was just about to start a 21-day challenge of eliminating several foods, including sugar. (I will share my experience at the end of the 21 days.)
I’ve been swapping the gummies and granola bars with fruit, raisins, string cheese, Greek yogurt, air popped popcorn, and nuts. They aren’t going cold turkey, but we’ve definitely cut way back and will continue to. And snack suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I guess no more Cinnamon Roll parties before school. Womp Womp.
So far it really hasn’t been that bad. I was expecting a lot more meltdowns and tantrums. Also, I’ve been doing a lot more cooking, and we have been trying not to eat out as much. Tomorrow I can’t wait to share an awesome meatball recipe with you all!
Until next time.
